Own Your Grocery Store
A one-time $100 investment makes you a lifetime owner of Market 166. One share, one vote. This is your store!
Why Join?
Market 166 is a grocery store built by and for the Tri-Cities area. We’re not a chain. We’re not a startup waiting for investors. We’re neighbors pooling our resources to build something our community has needed for years.
When you become an owner of Market 166 Grocery, you aren’t just a customer—you’re a founder. Ownership means we aren’t waiting for a grocery store to show up; we are building it ourselves to ensure our community finally gets the quality and care it deserves.
With a one-time $100 investment, you become an owner for life. That means a real vote in how the store operates, including who sits on the Board and what ends up on our shelves. It means your money stays local, supporting Georgia farmers, Black-owned businesses, and underrepresented producers and it means you’re part of proving that this community is ready for something better.
Common Questions
Do I have to be a member to shop?
Nope, everyone is welcome to shop and you can find us today at Mini-Market! But when you join you are helping to accelerate the opening day of our full-service grocery store.
What's a co-op?
A co-op is a business owned and democratically operated by its members, with one member, one vote. For Market 166, this gives our community the power to decide who leads us and how we operate.
There are thousands of cooperative businesses across the country and we are proud to be one of the 300+ community-owned food co-ops in the US!
When will you open?
Right now you can find us at Mini-Market 166 inside Atlanta Utility Works in East Point! It is too soon to set an opening timeline for our full-service location. Grocery co-ops take on average 10-12 years to open, we began organizing in 2017.
Currently, we are completing an updated 2026 market study, a strategic vision with SevenRoots, and building volunteer capacity for our next stage.
Where will you be located?
The search for our full-service grocery location will be led by our future Site Selection Committee to ensure neighbors decide our location.
Our goal is to find a location in the Tri-Cities that is accessible, central, and best meets the needs of our community.
What kind of groceries will you sell?
We will be a full-service grocery store offering everything you need for the week, from fresh produce to pantry staples.
We’ll stock a mix of organic and conventional foods while always prioritizing local, Black-owned businesses and underrepresented producers.
