Market 166 is democratically governed by neighbors like you. Our Board of Directors translates our community’s vision into strategic action.
A Working Board for a Working Co-op
We are looking for passionate, dedicated owners to join our Board of Directors. This isn’t just a title. It’s a hands-on commitment to building a grocery store from the ground up. Our 15-member Board is responsible for the financial health, strategic direction, and ultimate success of Market 166.
The Commitment
Serving on the Board is a significant way to invest in your community.

- Time: Approximately 20 hours per month
- Meetings: Bi-monthly Board meetings, plus committee work and training.
What You’ll Do
- Strategize: Execute the vision, mission, and values of Market 166.
- Oversee: Ensure strong financial management and fiduciary oversight.
- Build: Approve and monitor committees, programs, and future staff (including our General Manager).
- Engage: Actively communicate with owners and show up at community events.

- Project Management
- Community Organizing
Note: You don’t need to be an expert in any or all of these! A willingness to learn and work together is the most important qualification.
